Tomorrow I'll be the event DJ for the 2008 UNCF Walk-a-Thon in Columbus, Ohio. So while everyone else tries to "Keep on Walkin" (CeCe Peniston), I'll be cuttin' it up with some of my (and your) favorite tunes! Hope I see you there!

What I'm Listening To - 7/1/2008
So what's in my car these days?:
Estelle - Shine (2008)
-the "Magnificent" track has got my boy Kardinal Offishal on it! And "So Much Out the Way" is destined to be another Wyclef classic.

The Roots - Rising Down (2008)
-They got the melodious Chrisette Michelle on that "Rising Up" track - i like the little gogo beat they be kickin on that one!
My Retro Pick - Buju Banton - Til Shiloh (1995)
-"Til Shiloh" is a track that I sing along to with my eyes closed, head back, and finger in the air! :-) (except when I'm driving of course)

Where I Be
This weekend I DJ'd the First Friday in Toledo, Ohio at the Navy Bistro. Severe weather hurt the attendance, tho (I think I heard that a tornado touched down somewhere).

What I'm Listening To - 4/25/2008
So what's in my car stereo these days?:
Camp Lo - Black Hollywood
- if I told you the phrase "...we be sippin' Amaretta...", you would know I was talking about Sonny Cheeba & Geechi Suede. Their album "Uptown Saturday Night" was hott in 1997. They've done a couple of other things since then, but now they're back with their latest, "Black Hollywood".
The tracks to check out:
#1 - Posse From the Bronx (that stutter effect is clever)
#4 - Pushahoe (the hook is crass, but the beat is sweet)
#5 - Suga Willie's Revenge (I'm feeling that flute)

Don't Sleep On ... "Break Glass"
Polyrhythm Addicts - Not only do they have a great sound, they got my boy Pharoahe Monch on a track, and Large Professor as well. Plus, their female lyricist Pheonix got skillz. Check out these lyrics on the "Smash" track:
"The name is Pheonix
the frame is Serena's
I changed the game for chicks
like Diddy changed the remix..."
don't sleep

Try before you Buy
When I saw the new ProdigyFX online, I just knew I had to had. Seemed like it had everything I would need.
Then I got a close-up hands-on look at it in Guitar Center - that thing is small! At least smaller than my current setup, and smaller than it looked online. And some of the buttons on it seem a tad bit useless. Hmmm. Glad I was able to try before I buy...

What I'm Listening To - 4/4/2008
So, what's in my car stereo these days?:
Raheem Devaughn - Love Behind the Melody
- I predict "Friday" will become a new dance classic
Algebra
- Y'all betta recognize! "At This Time" is the groove!
Jazzy Jeff, Hip Hop Forever Vol. 2
- Every few weeks vol 2 or vol 3 makes it back in rotation. And I jam to it like I'm hearing his mixes for the first time! I'm light-weight studying his technique.
